Gatwick airport sold

It has changed hands for £1.5b. BAA has sold it to Global Infrastrucure Partners, but will passengers notice any difference?
BAA was ordered to sell it after an inquiry reported that passengers were loosing out as there was not enough competition between airports in the UK.
The company has said it will now concentrate fully on improving Heathrow and has wished the new owners well.
Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) already owns London City Airport.
BAA has also been instructed to sell Stanstead and either Gatwick or Edinburgh.
It is unclear exactly what GIP will do to change the whole flying experience that, in our opinion at PlanetSKI, has deteriorated and changed significantly in recent years.
The airline industry in general is also under severe pressure at the moment as the economic downturn hits both business and holiday travel. BAA's profits fell 18% to £582m with passenger numbers down 2.7%
