Miller misses out

Bode Miller will not be racing in the first World Cup event of the season this weekend in Austria. We have seen him training this week in Saas Fee but he's not fit for competition.
The American star is now back in the US team and has just restarted skiing after a 7-month break. He has though been keeping fit.
Miller has won the title twice, in 2005 and 2008 but his first race this season will now be in Finland on November 15th rather than Soelden Austria this weekend.
It's thought his fitness levels are not high enough.
Aims to be ready"The skiing is not going to be an issue so much as the fitness. In the past my fitness has been one of my biggest strengths, and the fact that I can ski four events and not get sick and not get injured is what allowed me to win the overall the other years that I won it," he told sports journalist at a news conference.
"It's going to be a bit of a test to see how quickly I can get into the form I need to be in to be competitive," he added. "But things don't start to get into a full swing until December, and I think by then I should be fit."
Dont't forget PlanetSKI has a reporter from Racer Ready at the Soelden race this weekend and we will be bringing you all the news including how Britian's No1 female racer, Chemmy Alcott, does. She races on Saturday.
This week a PlanetSKI reporter saw Bode in Saas Fee skiing and relaxing afterwards by playing tennis. See the courtside photos below.

32-year old Bode Miller is one of the most famous skiers racing at the moment and with Hermann Maier now out after he announced his retirement Miller will undoubtedly be the focus of media attention in the run up to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver next February.
He won 2 silver medals in Salt Lake City in 2002 but at Turin in 2006 he made more headlines with his partying than his skiing.
This summer he spend time with his daughter and considered retiring and going off to produce wine from his vineyard, but he decided to have another go at Olympic gold.
