PlanetSKI corrects the BBC

Everyone seems to be moaning about what the corporation does at the moment. They even got a ski question wrong on Never mind the Buzzcoks last Saturday night.
Shock, horror, heads should roll!
The question was a simple one. What have James Blunt and Diana Ross got in common? The answer given was they both have lifts named after them in a ski resort.
Now here at PlanetSKI we are anoraks at this sort of ski trivia and the correct answer is that they both opened ski lifts in the Swiss resort of Verbier.
The lifts are most certainly not named after them. The lift Diana Ross cut the ribbon on is actually called the Jumbo, not a phrase she would like associated to her.
See the video below for some video evidence as we refer to it about half way through and show you the opening plaque.
Meanwhile, the singer James Blunt opened a new lift between Ruinettes and Attelas a few years ago but it is not actually named after him. It is a high speed 6 seater chairlift complete with hood.
Some locals do refer to it as the James Blunt lift though.
He has a chalet in the resort and skies there extensively throughout the winter. He also trained there with the army who have been coming to the resort for training at the beginning of the season for 25 years.
So now you know........
