Pyhrn-Priel. Pardon? It's a little known ski area and it's just renewed its sponsorship of GB's top alpine racer.

We all know the Austrians love their skiing.

It seems that they love Great Britain's Dave Ryding too.

For more than two years Pyhrn-Priel has been one of the slalom specialist's main sponsors, preparing pistes in the Hutterer Höss ski area in Hinterstoder for him to train on between World Cup races.

He is treated like one of their own.

They went crazy when he won that historic silver medal in last season's World Cup at Kitzbühel, one of Austria's iconic alpine race locations.

They called him a "sensational ski racer" and welcomed him "home" when he returned to Sport Arena Pyhrn-Priel to train after Kitzbühel.

They have just renewed their partnership with him.

Ryding announced the new sponsorship deal on social media:

I am really happy to announce that I will be continuing my great partnership with @pyhrn_priel ... we have built a great relationship over the last 2 years and the World Class training pistes available to me in Hinterstoder, prepared however we want them, is key for my World Cup preparations. It's a beautiful part of Austria which welcomes me as one of their own. Thanks everyone involved! I would really recommend this untouched, historic part of Austria.

So, where is it and what's it like?

Here's a promotional video to start with:

Pyhrn-Priel is in the south of Upper Austria, on the edge of Kalkalpen National Park.

It's easy to reach with flights from London to Linz and a free airport shuttle to the resort which takes about 50 minutes.

It's not huge.

There are two ski areas: the Hutterer Höss in Hinterstoder (40 km of pistes) where Ryding trains, and the Wurzeralm in Spital am Pyhrn (22 km of pistes).

Skiing is up to 2,000 metres altitude.

It's not just Dave Ryding who benefits from the sponsorship deal.

Sport Arena Pyhrn-Priel has supported the British Ski & Snowboard national team since the 2015/16 season so Ryding is sometimes joined by teammates.

"Hinterstoder offers perfect conditions," Ryding says.

"And the training centre itself is the kind of place you dream of.

"It has everything you could possibly want, from fitness rooms to perfectly groomed pistes.

"And the Austrian food, well, that's an added highlight!"

And it's a good place to relax too.....
