LINDSEY VONN TO RETIRE?
21st January 2019
The Queen of Speed may be about to hang up her race skis and bring the curtain down on a stella career.
“I’ve had four surgeries on my right knee,” she said to reporters after the weekend race.
“I’ve got no LCL (lateral collateral ligament) on my left knee.”
“I’ve got two braces on.”
“There’s only so much I can handle and I might have reached my maximum.”
‘‘I’m not sure, I’ve got to take a couple days’ time and really think about things.”
2018/19 is her last full season.
Her goal is to surpass the record of 86 World Cup wins held by the legendary Swedish skier, Ingemar Stenmark.
She is currently four short on 82.
Ahead of the Cortina race she posted on Facebook:
“Thank you Cortina for the amazing support!
You made me cry tonight thinking about all of the incredible memories I have been lucky enough to experience here.
Tomorrow will be my last race down this track, which is hard for me to imagine.
From my first World Cup podium to breaking the women’s win record, Cortina has been good to me.
Tomorrow I will savor this last run down one of my favorite tracks and wave my final goodbye to my loyal Cortina fans
â¤ï¸ðŸ™ðŸ» Love you all very much”
