The deparure of Britain from the EU was going to be happening on 29th March and so Les Arcs is staging its third Great British Celebration Week.

It started last weekend on 30th March.

The Anglophile Mayor, Michel Giraudy, is once again be flying the British flag as a series of events are held to mark the close relationship the high altitude resort has with the Brits.

A host of on and off-snow activities take place between 30th March and 5th April.

Highlights for 2019 include a Franco-British quiz, a toboggan race, speed skiing tuition, an ice warrior obstacle course, a slalom race and a closing night concert.

PlanetSKI was in Les Arcs for the 2018 event which had British snowboarding royalty, Jenny Jones, as its ambassador.

Les Arcs is popular with British snowsports fans.

Around 45% of its overseas skiers and snowboarders come from the UK.

The resort says that during the Great British Celebration the whole of Les Arcs, from Bourg Saint-Maurice to the top of the Aiguille Rouge, will be decked out in the colours of the Union Flag.

“We are delighted to be hosting the Great British Celebration for the third time,” Michel Giraudy said.

“No matter what happens in terms of Brexit, we are standing by our British skiers and hope they can join us at one or more of the activities of the Great British Celebration this season.

” It is a great time to get out on the slopes and enjoy the spring conditions – as well as a full programme of activities!”
