PLANETSKI ARRIVES IN UTAH AS MORE SNOW FALLS

Half a metre fell last week and more is forecast. Which is good as PlanetSKI has just touched down in Salt Lake City!

I’m here for a week or so, staying in the town of Park City and skiing its resorts of Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Resort + The Canyons.

Then it’s off to Sundance, deeper into Utah and owned by the Hollywood legend that is Robert Redford.

Next it’s on to Zermatt – a  resort and spa complex in the town of Midway.

With no fresh snow worth talking about in the Alps luck is on my side.

Here is the scene on arrival at my condo in Park City today:

It has been a fabulous start to winter in Utah, and elsewhere in the USA.

The snow had eased off after the early falls, but now it is back.

Here is the evening scene in Maine Street:

Good evening Park City – snow is falling

In fact it is so good, lets slow it down.

Utah is known for its dry powder snow and it looks like there is going to be plenty to ski over the next few days so do check back.

Park City is often billed as one of the best ski towns in North America.

I’ll be testing those claims.

It’s been three years since I was last in Utah.

The Ultimate ski road trip: Utah Part One

Prior to that it was a decade after the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics as I skied the resorts and looked at the Olympic legacy.

I was also at the Games themselves way back in 2002 covering it for the BBC and comparing skiing in Utah with skiing in the Alps.

And guess who I met while skiing in Sundance way back in 2002?

The Kid himself.

I wonder if I’ll see him this time around…
