Here's the second report from St Moritz by PlanetSKI's roving reporter, James Rampton. NEW

Yes, the skiing in St Moritz is something special - more of which anon - but the cuisine is quite extraordinary, too.

That is especially true in the Swiss resort at the moment.

This week St Moritz is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its renowned "Gourmet Festival".

And to mark the occasion, the local restaurants are offering some dishes that are as delicious as any PlanetSKI has tasted anywhere in the world (and we have travelled as far as Skegness).

Last night, we wandered down the still very Christmassy Main Street in St Moritz from our hotel, Schweizerhof, to the Badrutt's Palace Hotel three minutes away.

There we were ushered into a very smart restaurant, which goes by the name of "IGNIV by Andreas Caminada@Badrutt's Palace" and holds a coveted Michelin star.

In the local dialect, the word "IGNIV" means "to share".

And, as the chef served up over two dozen exquisite small dishes, we were more than happy to share them!

It was like the best tapas you have ever had.

Every dish was like a work of art.

Goodness knows how many hours went into preparing the meal.

Personal favourites were the lettuce hearts topped with truffle, venison with red cabbage and celery, sweetbreads with Jerusalem artichokes and chocolate with blood orange.

All these dishes were paired with highly drinkable Swiss wines.

As if we hadn't had enough already, as we were leaving, we were offered a selection from the part of home-made chocolates.

Well, it would have been rude to refuse!

I'm very pleased to report that I did manage to avoid one indulgence: the very tempting looking spirits trolley.

All in all, it was the finest dining I've ever had in a ski resort.

Stretching over three hours, it was certainly a meal to remember, although I'm sure I will pay the price on the slopes.

I may well feel like I'm carrying an extra backpack when I start skiing.

After the meal, I walked back up the incline to the Schweizerhof considerably more slowly than I had walked down it.

I was thinking to myself, "Well, I'll be darned. There be Michelin stars in them thar hills."

Looks like I've picked the wrong week to start the New Year diet.
