MOUNTAINS & MUSIC - Katie Bamber, Senior News Reporter

At PlanetSKI, these are two of our favourite things in the entire world. Check out the details on the Snowboxx festival in Avoriaz.

So what could be better than Snowboxx, a fabulous festival that includes oodles of both?

I'd call the festival "bangin'" - if I wasn't about thirty years too old to use that word.

Now in its sixth edition, Snowboxx has established itself as one of the leading Alpine music festivals.

It will be taking place this year in Avoriaz.

More than 6,000 revellers will be painting the French resort red between 17th and 24th March.

Avoriaz is a very good choice of venue with many of the accomodtion options offered by Pierre et Vacances.

Part of the largest connected ski area in the world, it boasts an eye-watering 650 km of pistes, stretching right into Switzerland.

But make sure you do not expend all your energy on the slopes.

You need to save plenty for the evenings, especially as Snowboxx has just released a music line-up sure to get everyone tapping their snow-boots in anticipation.

Top of the bill is Fatboy Slim, who is making his Snowboxx debut this year.

He is an electrifying performer and will no doubt have all 6000 festival-goers shaking their salopettes like there's no tomorrow.

On the spectacular snow-covered main stage, the multi Brit Award winning DJ will be playing tracks such as The Rockafeller Skank and, of course, Right Here, Right Now.

The only slight disappointment is that the tremendous American actor Christopher Walken is not currently scheduled to make an appearance replicating his deranged moves on the video for Fatboy's massive global hit, Praise You.

Fatboy ‎Slim will be joined at Snowboxx by Mike Skinner, aka The Streets, whose song Dry Your Eyes reached Number One in the UK in 2004.

Skinner, who played to acclaim on the Snowboxx main stage two years ago, will be performing at an Igloo Party on the edge of the slopes.

Also featured on the Snowboxx bill this year are Chase & Status DJ Set and Rage, Loyle Carner, Youngr, Fred V & Grafix, Artful Dodger, Kideko, Snakehips, Stefflon Don, Steve Lawler, Abode, Danny Howard, Mark Knight, Leftwing & Kody, Max Chapman, Purple Disco Machine and Snakehips, to name but a few.

Your correspondent is particularly looking forward to dancing to Snakehips and showing why that is his very well-deserved nickname (not really).

A number of club partners will also be at Snowboxx, including Fleetmac Wood, So Fresh So Clean, Cubana and Cubed.

Snowboxx has also recently announced that this year for the very first time it will be playing host to the Altitude Comedy Festival, a perennial favourite of PlanetSKI's.

See below for one of numerous reports from the past few years:

We will be bringing you details of that very soon.

But in the meantime, with a music line-up of this calibre, you'd be out of your‎ box to miss Snowboxx.

Tickets for Snowboxx start from £229 for accommodation and a festival wristband.

Flight packages starting from £369

Lessons and ski hire are available from just £73
