It seems the struggles with warmth and lack of snow are over in the USA and winter has started: Avalanche warnings are high NEW

It's all good.

Finally.

The major ski states have snow.

Idaho has received a metre overnight in places.

I've been in Sun Valley for the past few weeks and we've received a metre down in the valley over just a few days.

The off piste area 'The Burn' was naked before the weekend.

And Wednesday it looked like:

The snow-go:
Avalanche risk is high with cold temperatures after warm and the hella heavy snow that's fallen.

Sun Valley prescribes no skiing out of bounds - the off piste areas not made safe by bombing.

This season has seen terrible accidents due to the snow and avalanche fatalities.

As always, stay safe, be prepared, follow the safety information and advice out there.

They know what's skiable and safe.
