A fist fight broke out in Obertauern as 7 teenagers fought with a German man and his son after a row about who should get on a gondola first. NEW & UPDATED

The argument broke out over who should get on the Gruenwaldkopfbahn in the resort.

The fighting erupted as the people got off the lift, punches were thrown and ski poles used as weapons.

The 16-year old son of the 51-year old German man was left with a broken arm.

Reports suggest the German teenager was responsible for starting the row, but this has not been confirmed.

Two others were injured.

The two groups were on the same 10-person gondola and argued inside on the 3 minute and 40 second journey up the mountain.

The children were aged 15 to 16-years old and on an annual school ski trip.

The police have questioned all those involved and are now considering whether charges will be made.

The identity of those involved and the school the children came from has not been released, but it is reported to be a school in Halifax.

The lift in question has 10-person gondola cabins and 8-person chairlifts.

It is capabale to taking 3,500 people per hour up the slopes.
