And not just any old stage, it's the iconic climb to Alpe d'Huez: Stage 12. One of our ski partners has a few rooms left in town... NEW

It is perhaps the most famous stage as the peleton tackles the 21 bends on the steep mountain climb from the valley floor.

Most of the beds in the resort went long ago for July19th but the ski tour operator and PlanetSKI partner, VIP SKI, has some rooms spare in one of its chalets in the resort, Chalet le Chateau.

It is just metres from the finish line and you are sure to get one of the best views of the finish: See here for further details

And if you want to know what it's like to be in a resort as Le Tour arrives check out this PlanetSKI report from way back in 2009 when we were in Verbier, Switzerland, for a stage finish:
VIP is even offering a discounted price of £75 per person per night, based on 2 in twin room, half board, minimum 3-night stay (travel not included).

Some self-catered chalets are also available.

Chalet Le Chateau sleeps 15 guests, is at an altitude of 2000m and surrounded on two sides by mountains.

It has five twin and two double bedrooms, all with en-suite and balcony and a small single bedroom.

There's a dedicated chalet host who provides breakfast and 3 course evening meal.

Some self-catered chalets are also available.

See here for the main PlanetSKI news page with all the latest stories from the mountains.
