Where the price of a beer doesn't break the bank and you don't start the holiday cringing at the prospect of all the added extras.

Inghams names its 'Fab 5' ski resorts to help those looking for a budget ski holiday stay on course once out there in the mountains.

The holiday experts know it can be daunting when tallying up the cost of lift tickets, mountain lunches and drinks before you've even got to the fun.

So to keep it as comfortable as possible, make sure you don't pick a resort notorious for high price tags and impossible spending.

On the whole, ski resorts aren't known for reasonable prices, so Inghams has picked five of the best, helping you plan your winter break:
La ClusazLa Clusaz

La Clusaz

This French resort Haute-Savoie is new to Inghams this season.

Before La Clusaz became a ski resort it was already a small village and  has maintained its traditional charm.

Resort prices haven't rocketed quite as much as in some of the more modern, purpose-built resorts in the French Alps.

It's a great ski area for beginners and intermediates, and it boasts about it's off-piste skiing too.

We've looked into a lunch example for you there at Le Relais de l'Aiguille where a a ham & cheese crêpe costs €6.50.

A seven-night stay at the three-star Hotel Alpen Roc, departing on 22nd December, costs from £1,259pp (a £209pp saving).

Price includes:
  • return flights from East Midlands to Geneva
  • airport transfers
  • daily après ski snack and drink
  • inclusive drinks with dinner

The Andorran resort sits at 1,475m in the Vallnord Ski Area.

It is famous for being great value for money and has some of Europe's best 'cheap and cheerful' après ski.

Bars are known to lure people in with free snacks and drinks and there are always vouchers for certain places on the resort's website.

Inghams offers free ski hosting in the ski area, across both Arinsal's open-bowl skiing and the wooded slopes of its neighbour, Pal.

There's a free shuttle to the hidden gem of Arcalis for quiet slopes and great off-piste.

Inghams is offering seven nights at the three-star Hotel Magic Ski in Arinsal from £579pp, departing on 27th January, 2019.

Livigno is a tax-free haven located high up - at 1,820m - on the Italian-Swiss border that in 1805 was made exempt from excise duties by Napoleon.

In modern day, it means skiers and boarders can benefit from the reduced price of alcohol, perfumes, cigarettes and tobacco, electronic items, and so on...

The Italian resort has also recently invested in its hotels and lift system, so it's an improved experience at the same good price.

The pedestrian centre is lined with lively bars and duty-free shops.

You also benefit from Italian food at Italian prices so lunch on the mountain is even more enjoyable.

Inghams is offering a seven-night stay on a half-board basis at the three-star Hotel Alaska in Livigno from £719pp.

Depart on 5th January, 2019 from Gatwick - return flights included to Innsbruck as well as airport transfers.

Les Menuires

Ski the world-famous Les3Vallees ski area for less and stay in the small village resort of Les Menuires.

It has a more affordable price tag than its Les3Vallees sisters of Courchevel or Meribel, for example, and is ideal for families.

Ski-in ski-out accommodation = stress-free skiing.

The village is amazingly located, well-connected and easy access to the huge 600-kilometre ski area so there is something for all level of skier and snowboarder.

One of the best-value hotel options is the Village Club du Soleil, which offers a free six-day lift pass per person and free equipment hire.

Big breakfasts and buffet lunches or picnics are sorted by the hotel so you don't need to spend on lunch on the mountain.

Dinner includes free wine.

Inghams is offering a seven-night holiday for a family of three (two adults and a child) for £4,104, including return flights from London Gatwick to Chambery and airport transfers.

The package is valid for travel departing on 22nd December, 2018.

This lesser-known Austrian resort sits within the Wildschönau Valley, which translates as 'wild and beautiful'.

It's a classic and charming Tyrolean resort - It's also cheap!

A six-day whole area lift pass costs £194 for an adult in low season.

Wide slopes, top-rated ski schools and 'Learn To Ski' packages from £175 (6 days equipment hire + 5 days tuition) mean it's perfect for new skiers and snowboarders.
