Ski & Snowboard Australia (SSA) is to spend over $500,000 per year to challenge for medals. NEW

It wants to increase participation, talent identification and development initiatives.

The amount of money is likely to increase in future years.

There will be:
  • Emerging Talent Scholarships (ETS), 
  • Futures Camps and Clinics, 
  • Little Shredders, 
  • Development of the Snowracer digital platform, 
  • Extra dedicated coaches and support staff,
"SSA has always been committed to developing home grown talent and ensuring the next generation of ski and snowboard athletes are supported throughout their career," said Ski & Snowboard Australia CEO, Michael Kennedy.

Australia is strong in moguls and sees world class athletes training at Perisher over the summer months.

It also has excellent park and pipe facilities with its snowparks and again many athletes from the northern hemisphere come to train in its resorts.

PlanetSKI has been skiing in Australia over the summer months this year.

The SSA says it is more than just about developing the next Olympians and Paralympians.

"It's also about engaging new participants in the sport. Not only do we need to ensure that talent pool continues to grow here in Australia, we also want to get more young people participating and enjoying snow sports, no matter where they live."
