Wishing all our readers, partners, resorts + many friends in snowsports across the world the very best for 2019. UPDATED

These were some of the scenes around the mountains as 2018 turned into 2019.

Verbier seemed pretty good:

And here was the scene in Tignes:

Val Thorens in Les3Vallees had the traditional torchlight descent:

"That was 2018...Happy New Year... here's to 2019! All the best everyone!" said GB's No1 ski racer, Dave Ryding.

And shorty after wishing everyone well he put in this performance in Oslo and equalled his best ever result!

"All the team at POW UK would like to wish our followers a Happy New Year!! We'd like to thank everyone who has supported us in 2018!! We've got some ultra exciting things planned for 2019, so here's to 2019!!" said Protect Our Winters.

"Happy New Year from Verbier," said the ski instructor, Warren Smith, on Monday 31st January 2018.

"My last ski of 2018. It's been an incredible start to the winter season. We are two months into our winter and its been an amazing one so far. Huge amount of powder days and great skiing adventures already. Wishing everyone good health and happiness for 2019.:

And it was bad news and good news for New Year in Cervinia in the Aosta Valley in Italy.

The Bad News: "We communicate that, due to the strong wind, the torchlight and the fireworks show are postponed to Thursday 3 January," said a statement from the resort in the run up to NYE.

The Good News: " The DJ Set with GET FAR is confirmed, starting at 21.00 pm at the village."

The resort goes again on Thursday night... so we recommend you head over to Cervinia and celebrate 2019 again.

Ahead of the big night we posted a roundup of some of the best ski resorts to see in the New Year:

So, where are the best?

Our good friends over at Crystal Ski have come up with their choices and we have added our PlanetSKI favourite.

PAS DE LA CASA, ANDORRA

It's party night pretty much every night in the Andorran resort.

And on January 31st the stops are pulled out.

Paddy's Irish Bar and Underground buzz with atmosphere right through until 5am.

As the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, join in the local tradition of eating a grape for every chime of the bells.

It symbolises good health and prosperity for the months to come.

TIGNES, FRANCE

The Pop-Rock festival in Tignes is the largest free outdoor party in Europe.

Here at PlanetSKI we saw in the New Year in Tignes a few years back.

It has Europe's highest dancefloor - the Snowfront in Tignes Le Lac.

And at the stroke of midnight, the mountains explode with colour as fireworks light up the night sky.

CERVINIA, ITALY

The day before New Year's Eve is as big as 31st December here.

Torchlight descents by the ski instructors, and lights and lasers on the face of the Matterhorn are topped off with a brilliant fireworks display.

And to keep you warm, there's free mulled wine and extra-chocolatey hot chocolate.

Then on the night itself, Cervinian in the Aosta Valley goes all out with a massive street party, with DJs, dancing and streamers galore.

ST ANTON, AUSTRIA

New Year's is a party-in-the-streets affair.

Make your way through the pedestrianised centre for one of the noisiest countdowns you've ever seen (and heard), with fireworks going off in every direction.

And then of course proceeding kick off early.

Before skiing even ends.

And here at PlanetSKI we have our own favourite: Verbier in Switzerland.

We have been there on numerous occasions over the years.

The Place Central is a heaving mass of mayhem:

But let's be honest pretty much any ski resort is good on New Years Eve.

The trick is to have a great time but try to leave something in the tank for New Years Day.

You likely have the slopes pretty much to yourself.

First thing at least.

Happy New Year folks!

See the PlanetSKI Facebook page to tell us your favourite resort for New Year's Eve.
