SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND (OR MID-WEEK)
Tuesday March 5, 2019 - Email this article to a friend

Short breaks have risen in recent years. For some it's a question of time, but recently more people do them as they simply prefer them.

Some people don't want to ski for the traditional period of a week.

They can't afford the time off work or know they can squeeze all they want into a short break.

Others would rather have two short breaks across the winter to the mountains, rather than one long one.

There are a growing number of companies offering short breaks to meet this change in the market.

Here at PlanetSKI we advise going with a company with a track record.

Step forward Skiweekender.

It is one of the oldest specialist short break ski operators.

"For more than 15 years, we have been offering short ski breaks in the French Alps," said the founder of Skiweekender, Paul Turnbull

See here for further details about the company.

"Our Ski Weekends and Ski Midweeks offer you the perfect short break ski holidays - providing maximum slope time with minimum hassle."

The company offers a 3-day midweek (Monday - Thursday) and 4-day ski weekend holidays (Thursday - Monday) in ski resorts close to Geneva.

Or you can put the two together and go for a week.

Last winter at PlanetSKI we looked at the product up close and personal.

Day 1 was spent skiing in the resort of Le Grand Bornand near Annecy.

It was a fabulous day in a fabulous resort:

The it was La Clusaz on Day 2 but the weather changed on our second day of four. And then on Day 3 it was round to St Gervais:

And then in Day 4 its hidden area: Cote 2000.

"We offer the most convenient, good-value short break ski holidays in France. Our inclusive packages make it as easy as possible for you to enjoy 3 or 4 days' skiing and snowboarding whilst making the most of your limited time off work," added Paul.

Its resorts are about an hour from Geneva.

Everything is geared to getting the maximum out of a short break.

Whether it be pounding the pistes from first lift to last and throwing oneself with gusto into après ski.

Or taking the opposite path and just chilling out & unwinding.

On any Ski Weekender ski or snowboard short break, your holiday package provides:

• Catered Chalet or Hotel, with friendly atmosphere, great food and acclaimed service.

• Airport Transfers included - short airport transfers around 1 hour.

• Lift Pass included for the full ski region - ready and waiting for you on arrival.

Its ‘Classic' format has been perfected at the Aravis Lodge base, a fantastic choice for chalet-style ski holidays with a relaxed, sociable atmosphere and the full support of a dedicated, attentive team.

Its newer ‘Lite‘ format runs at a range of partner hotels, providing a warm welcome and convenient base for skiers after a more independent stay.

You arrange your own flights to Geneva - allowing you to find the cheapest flights at the most convenient times and choose the best airport to fly from.

Oh, and have we mentioned the vegetarian option?

Its main hotel, the Aravis Lodge, is approved by the Vegetarian Society

"It can be very difficult to find somewhere that caters for vegetarians and vegans in the French Alps, whereas the Aravis Lodge has Vegetarian Society Approval for both," said Paul.

"Our onsite professional chef team are happy to cater for most dietary requirements, including gluten, dairy and nut-free dishes, even for afternoon tea."

Prices start from £349.
