KIRSTY'S YEAR - Jane Peel, Laax, Switzerland
Tuesday April 2, 2019 - Email this article to a friend

A year ago we featured young GB freeskier, Kirsty Muir, as one to watch. We've been catching up with her.

We've had our eye on the young Scot from Aberdeen for a few years now.

She's been shining at The BRITS - the annual British Snowboard and Freeski Championships - in Laax, winning not only age group but Open category medals.

We spoke to her and young snowboarder Mia Brookes at The BRITS in Laax in April 2018.
Kirsty Muir is now 14 and a full member of the GB Park & Pipe Squad.

Her results this season - including three Europa Cup medals -  prove she's ready for high-level competition.

Kirsty is in Laax for The BRITS again this week, so we decided to catch up with her.

We had to be quick.

She's in resort for just a few days.

Her only competition was the Ski Big Air event on Tuesday where she finished 2nd this time around.

The reason she won't line up for the Slopestyle competition later in the week is that she has somewhere more important to be.

She is off to the Junior World Championships, in Klaeppen in Sweden, which get under way on Sunday.

She is one of only two skiers to be selected to compete for GB.

Here's what she had to say to us about her crazy 12 months:
