DOCTOR GUILTY OF CHILD SKI ASSAULT
Saturday April 6, 2019 - Email this article to a friend

A doctor accused of attacking a 12-year-old boy in a 'ski rage' incident in the USA has been convicted of child endangerment.

Samuel Caruthers was acquitted of aggravated assault and a weapons charge.

The court heard he punched the boy and stabbed him with a ski pole in February 2016 in a ski resort in New Jersey.

It followed an incident where the youth fell into Caruthers and his then-10-year-old son while snowboarding on a beginner slope Mountain Creek resort in Vernon.

The youth suffered minor injuries in the attack.

He said the collision was an accident.

The 47-year-old Caruthers could face up to seven years in prison.

He will be sentenced next month.

In the meantime he will be lodging an appeal.
