A snowboarding vicar blesses the Manchester snow slope at Chill Factore. Here's something you don't see everyday.

A snowboarding vicar has blessed the piste of the UK's longest indoor real snow slope to mark the end of the European ski season.

Snowboarder, the Rev Steven Young, took to the slopes on at Manchester's real snow ski slope.

It was to mark the end of the European ski season.

He sprinkled holy water on the snow, blessing it.

As he came down the slope he gave thanks for the fun the snow centre provides to young and old, year round.

The vicar also managed a few tricks.

He took a decent jump and did a box.

During his descent, the Greater Manchester's Rock Choir performed Beyonce's track 'Halo'.

In an on-slope ceremony, where skiers and boarders carried on with their sessions around him, the vicar praised the end of another European winter season.

He also wished summer skiers and snowboarders at Chill Factore a safe and fun time.

"It was great to perform the blessing as I snowboarded down the slope and to see so many people get involved in the ceremony afterwards," he said after the ceremony.

"I'm passionate about promoting an inclusive, diverse and vibrant society - a setting where all are welcome - and Chill Factore offers a place to do just this.

"This ceremony is a great way for the community to connect...

"... as a snow sports enthusiast myself, I'm honoured to be able to bless the snow following a great European season."

"Snow blessings are traditional in some countries and resorts, so we thought we'd bring it here to Manchester's home of snow," says Chill Factore CEO, Morwenna Angove.

"We hope the ceremony was loved by all involved...

"Even though the European season may have finished, we're glad we can welcome guests all year round to enjoy the snow."

The vicar previously visited Chill Factore this year.

He took part in a challange, and succeeded, to complete a run down each of the UK's six indoor slopes in one day.

He raised £1,403 for North London Hospice.
