IMPROVEMENTS TO AUSTRIA LIFTS CONTINUE
Friday October 11, 2019 - Email this article to a friend

Now it's the turn of Ischgl to unveil its new lifts for next winter. The lift systems in Austria seem to be getting bigger & better.

Ischgl launches the new ski season next month with multi-million euro investments in the latest high-tech ski lifts.

The resort in the Tirol has spent €24m on the two chairlifts of Velilleck and Visnitz.

The new €13.5m Velilleck lift takes skiers up to Pardatschgrat.

It is 1,300m longer than the old lift and can carry up to 2,400 people an hour.

The 6-seater heated Velilleck chairs, with weatherhoods, feature images of local plants on the backs.

Last winter the upgraded Gampen lift sported alpine animals.

It follows a theme introduced two years ago on the Palinkopf lift which depicts the rock stars to have performed in Ischgl's open air concerts.

The new Visnitz lift is on the Swiss side of the Silvretta Arena at Alp Trida.

It is an 8-seater, heated chairs with weatherhoods and the first of its type in Switzerland.

The €10.5m lift can carry 3,500 people per hour.

Austria continually spends many millions of euros upgrading its lifts and we have recently reported on improvements.
