Ski Club wars
Monday November 10, 2008 - Email this article to a friend

A fierce internal battle is raging over the off piste policy of the Ski Club of Great Britain.

This year’s AGM, later this month, promises to be highly charged as a single-issue group tries to change the off piste policy of The Club.

The organisation was formed in 1903 and is the largest snowsports club in the UK with 34,000 individual members.

The policy was updated last winter following an accident off piste in Switzerland in 2007, though some members were disappointed with the new restrictions.

4 members are now standing for election to the Club’s governing body to overturn the new rules.  The Club authorities have mounted a strong campaign to get every member to vote, while the 4 are accusing The Club of malpractice in how it is conducting the election and even threatening legal action.

There is also a very heated debate going on in the Club’s Chat Room with all sorts of accusations flying around.

The election to the club’s governing body takes place at the AGM on November 27th. It promises to be a lively night!
