Curling for Gold

The government is giving £350,000 to Scottiish curling to help regain its position as a top curling nation.

At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City the women’s Curling team won gold and much of the country stayed up late into the night to watch it on TV.

It has never quite retained such success or popularity.

The announcement was made by the Sports Minister, Stewart Maxwell, while opening an ice rink upgrade in Lockerbie.
