Finlay Mickel breaks his leg
Wednesday December 10, 2008 - Email this article to a friend

First it was Chemmy Alcott, now it's Finlay on the injured list. Luck doesn't seem to smiling on Team GB.

The British downhill skier was injured in an accident during training for the Beaver Creek downhill in Colorado.

He joins Chemmy Alcott on the sidelines after she broke her ankle last month while training in Canada.

Mickel, 31, had only just returned to competitive racing following injuries last season that led to him missing most of the racing calendar.

mickel_big_400Both Mickel and Alcott hope to be racing again in the New Year.

His best result was at the Lauberhorn in Wengen in 2006 when he came 10th.  The picture to the right, sent in by a PlanetSKI reader, is Mickel in the start gate as he prepared to tackle the course.

Read more Mickel's injury here from the BBC's Anna Thompson who is a PlanetSKI reader too.
